OK - this may be an odd question - on a 3-link suspension setup - I've seen cars with the panhard bar mounted to the frame on the right and on the left (driver's) side of the frame - what's the handling difference between the 2 methods and which one does everyone think is best for a dirt mod?

I'm re-doing the rear clip on my car right now and have the choice to put it either direction and want to make the best choice...

Right side for a wet tacky track. Left for a slick dry track. Alot has to be drivers feel and choice but most dirt are left due to tire contact patch shearing forces.

Hey ego, this is the first time I've ever herd of mounting panhard bar on the right side like Brian mentioned. Does this work for J-bars and short bars as well? If so, do you run the same angles? I've been running at Centeral Missouri Speedway for a year and it's always wet for heats, and very heavy for features. I'm always looking for new ideas. Thanks guys.

We had a DW-8 we ran a bar to the right side. It was an 8" tube and we ran no angle because the bar was so short. We have had a lot of good luck with this on a 3-link setup (qualified two years in a row for the A-main at Boone Nationals with it). The trick is to always run the bar flat from the frame to the pinion plate. We actually have 3 panhard mounts on our cars, two on the left (in front and behind) and one to the right. My advice would be to put mounts from the left and right so you can experiment. You might have to run square tube on the underslung if you run it to the right, as it puts a lot of stress on this area. We now run our bars in front of the rear from the left with about three inches of angle, and have found that to be a very consistent setup.
