I'm building a UMP modified and have a question regarding the bellhousing setup. What are the advantages of having an aluminum bellhousing with a rear mounted starter versus having a steel bellhousing with a front mounted starter? Any help is appreciated?

The aluminum and rear mount starter is lighter and moves the weight of the starter back farther in the chassis for more rear%. And with the starter off the block its one less thing to mess with during engine swaps.

Thanks, The difference between the two options is about $175 at a local supplier... sounds like it'd be worth the cost.

Yes i'd say its definetly worth the cost unless you plan on running any IMCA in which you have to run a steel bellhousing i beleive.
