I have heard many of you talking about indexing your rearend by spring location. Please define the word "indexing".

do you mean indexing the birdcages on the rearend? The birdcages are what the suspension linkage hooks up to and rotates on axle tube.

I have solid birdcages. by solid i mean my swingarms are hooked to a mount that is welded solid to the rearend housing. Is this old school? Does anybody run a floated bird cage on a 2link swingarm anymore?

you can not run floated birdcages on a 2 link swing arms, you would have to add the rearward bars. a floated 2 link swingarm would just fall over.
long story short, indexing is tilting of the birdcage when the suspension moves, on a floated suspension. or it can be indexing on a clamped up style car when you clamp the lr in front on a 2 link, or on a 4 bar, but using a clamp bracket. then you can index also(motor wraps up the rearend).
indexing is just getting extra spring travel(more than rearend itself travel) so you can load the spring an extra amount and push the tires into the ground more.
good luck
