HMMMMMMMM....thats a tough one, both of those heads are "Turds", I have used power pack heads with some success with bigger valves and some port work, however if you can't port them....and depending on what "later" casting you are talking about..most of the later castings flow better and have less valve schrouding.
If you can mill them.....I would go with the later 70's castings and cut the heck out of em!(JMHO)
If you can find them, use the "487" or "441" casting.

Nice heads are 441, better heads are 486, I did a set of 414 heads and I wish that I had not wasted my money as either stock 441 or 486 are better than reworked 414.

I've run 487X's with great luck. If you can find them and have to run large chambers, use them.
