Has anybody had any luck installing seats in race heads??

They are 461's.

A fellow racer\machinest doing 3 sets of heads for me says they will fall out as soon as the motor gets hot, as in overheated.

He says they stay in 305 heads good but not the older double humps etc.

I have another complete set of heads I want to use with 2 intake seats cracked on one head.

if it's done correctly, they'll be fine. aluminum race heads have seats installed in them...

I have personaly installed hundreds of seats in all types of heads including race engines and never had a ploblem. As long as all the tooling is in good shape with tight tolerances there wont be a problem.

I agree with the heads should be fine if the seats are done correctly. I have a set of darts with (2) seats in one of the heads. My partner has overheated the engine a couple times and we still have not had an issue with the heads, valves, etc.

About the only time a seat comes out of a head from heat is when there is a crack that isn't seen. the crack will open a little allowing the seat to come out.

I agree, if put in properly there won't be a problem. I have put many in myself and no problems. JMO
