I have found I like a 383 on bigger tracks or tracks with sweeping corners. Too much bottom end on tight corner or stop and go tracks. 377 is a good all around combination, especially if you want to wind up your motors. If you play with a 383 cam and intake spacer (2") you can take some bottom end out and the motor will more drivable.

Hey Badfastjr, I run a 383 in my mod and love it. I have the doublehump heads, powerplus intake, and a MWMS#9 cam on gas and that baby will thump. I have more pulling power than I need, but I have found out with a little foot control, I can make the car even if it's ill handling a pure rocketship. Oh, its in a DW8 chassis and with my setup I get tons of rear bite which helps use all the power the engine is offering me. I also run on a .3 high bank and 3/8 flat with sweeping turns. Both are extremely fast. My 2 pennies, I'd go with the 383.

Give David Wheeler a call in Valley Center, his number is 755-1144. He built Jim Johnsons 383 this year and Jim is wanting another one built this winter for next year.

BTW, Jim Johnson finished 7th in 81 speedway points....
