my rockers appear to running on the edge of valve,also I noticed a couple of the rockers dont even look like there long enough to sit on the valve correctly. Heads have guide plates,screw in studs.Also can I run the valve clearence.002 tighter than recomended

Yes on the valve lash, but you'll need longer pushrods to correct the valvetrain geometry problem or you'll have major valvetrain failure in no time.
The rockers should pass from just on one side of center of the valve to just to the other side of center throughout the full open/close motion.
To correct your problem, it sounds like +.100" pushrods are needed (but that's just a guess). The best way to verify is with a pushrod checking tool.

should I put new rockers on to if I go with longer push rods?And what size 1.6 or1.5. I am trying to get the best performance out of my heads,without causing damage.Also any thoughts on roller tip rockers.
