Please help.....Sat night engine got hot and when I came in there was very little water in radiator. I noticed it would get hot, then cool down, then it got hot and stayed about 250. I came in then that s when I noticed no water. I have never had any problems like this, usually the opposite. usually cant get it over 180. Running alcohol in a 347 Ford. We pumped each cylinder checking for head gasket, etc. below is the numbers we had.
1st thump hit 120 on every cylinder. Then each cylinder hit at 180 to 185 after 5 revolutions. They all dropped 5 grads after sitting for 30 seconds. Did I do this right? and what do these numbers tell me? Thanks

I would have to go with racer. The rad cap is suspect. Do you have to run an overflow bottle?

Had that problem a couple times this year it would heat up and the bottom would blow out of the overflow bottle then temp would skyrocket and no water left in rad.

Hope this helps.
