i have a std bore 350 and when i put the new rings on the pistons you have to beat them in with the **** of the hammer. had the piston rings checked and they are the right ones. what could be the problem? owe yes the pistons are std bore too.

Have you checked the end gap on the rings? Have you checked the bore to verify that it is round?

Ego's right - to check - put a ring in the bore, use a piston to square it up with the bore and then put a feeler gauge between the ring gap and measure... My guess is you're way too tight and have either file-fit ring pack or a mis-marked package...
