What kinda motor we talkin about. If your rules allow change to a lighweight crank if your running a standard go to a lightweight flywheel and lighter clutch setup. Once everyone finds out your specs there will be more help.

Im with 17J on this sounds like your intake and heads arent flowing enough air.
What heads and intake are you using.
Also what carb? Headers or manifolds?

352c.i. 400 block liteweight crank jet rods ross pistons. ported and polished stock 1.94/1.5 heads and stock intake. could it be the coil?

you have a mis-matched combo. you can't run a high revving combo like that with a stock intake and heads. a stock intake and heads will not allow that engine to turn the rpms it is designed to turn.

Whewww yeah, I agree with Outlaw. I had flat top 400 in my street stock with good stock heads/intake (blue printed and slightly ported), good carb, etc., and could never get that raskle to turn more than 6400-6500. My 350's on the same track with the same top end and ignition would turn 6800-7000 or higher if I geared for it. Mentioned it to another builder locally and the same answer came up, can't get the stock top end to deliver what's needed on the 400 setup.
