I have a friend that just started racing this year. The man who sold him the motor, and a few others, insist he should only use a bead of Permatex when bolting on the headers and not a regular header gasket. Another says use both Permatex and a gasket. He's not sure which way to go. Anyone have any suggestions or bad experience with these two methods? What would you suggest?
By the way- The motor is a 355 running on 110 octane. Used in a late model camaro running on a 3/8 mile dirt track.

The header flang on my latemodel headers was warped a little and after 3 sets of blowing gaskets i finally used silicon and no more leaks.

If you have stock port heads just use ex-manifold gaskets.
