What is the rpm difference in when changing gears, thinking of going from 5.83 to 6.20 or 6.33. Is it around 200-300 per step difference? To go to 6.33 would be like 600-900 rpm higher? Am I correct thinking this way or not?

Prob more like 150 per step. 5.83 to a 6.33 would be more like 400-450 at least in my experience. That is if your motor has the capability to make power at the higher rpms.

Thanks dirtbuster, the builder recomends 6500-7000 area we have been at 5800-6000 so just don't want to get to extreme. Being we have to buy the gear.

I would think 5.83 to a 6.20 will make a big change. I run 5.83's on a 3/8th mile track get 7,300-7,400 I put a set of 6.50's in for a 1/4 mile track it ran up to 8,000 went to 6.33's on the 1/4 track's and get around 7,500

Presently, I am running 5.83 on 1/4 mile high bank. 2650 lb car on imca mccrearys and turning 5800-6000 rpms. So am just trying to get an idea of which to go to. Thanks.
