I just changed mine. Dist is locked so I set the timing at an idel and I have to turn it over then hit the ignition. I like it. Its easier to set timing and no weigths to worry about. Its there and dont have to worry about where it comes in at or if the total advance bushing fell out or is wore out. Just simple.

i weld mine lost 2 races over the years because of those weight never happen again

Just locked it a couple weeks ago due to idle changing up and down.Idles steady and no starting problems now.

I run all my distributors locked and shimmed to elminate any variance in timing. Never had a timing related problem to date (luckily). Have never really had a starting problem either.

ok

mines locked, I locked one several years ago, and then didnt lock any since.

my current motor doesnt idle very good below, 32 degrees advance. so i locked it up now and it idles good.

this is on a 350 cfm carb, big cube motor..
