This is for clarification purposes!! A friend of mine broke his pullbar bracket on the rearend Sat. night in the heat race. They hauled it home (5 miles) welded it up made it back for the A and 5 laps into the race the ignition went out. The car would still run but was popping and banging and he had to keep the rpm's up to keep it alive. This is the billet msd hei ignition. I asked if he unplugged the distributor before he started welding and he said no.

I've been told with a box style msd ignition to unplug it before welding on the car, but will a hei ignition go out also?

I've always unplugged mine, because everyone says to do so.
