I need to get the temp down a little more in our motor. After the motor was getting up to 230 and pulling off the track time after time we finally got the temp down to a 210 after a 15 lap race. We did this by opening up a whole lot more air to the radiator. Were using a stewart pump. Our radiator fan and shroud are good plus were using 25% reduction pulley set up. The motor stays cool while idling just fine but when on the track is when it gets hot. Id like to get down below the 210 because last night was kind of cool night. The only other thing i didnt metion was the 3/4 restrictor plate. So would going to the 5/8 help slow the water a little more to help the cooling of the water at high rpm's ?

2 thing i can see right off reduction pullies and stewart pumps are designed for no restriction go to 1-1 setup pully and no restrictor

Ditto. Try going to a slightly bigger 4 or 6 blade fan stay away from the flex fans.

my dad was having the same prob. with his chevy 350. he went from a 3/4 to 5/8 restrictor and hasn't had to cool it at all in 4 races. it 180 on the track and gets to 190 by the time he gets to the pit. he also has reduction pulleys and a stewart pump. with no restrictor the water will move through the radiator too fast at high rpm. you'll probably notice a difference after practice.

if you are on methanol, 230 isnt really that hot. 210 is perfect for methanol. with a 29-31 lb cap 230 is doing nothing damaging and you are gettin better life out of all the parts to top it off... no cold spot wear, etc.. on gas, maybe a lil hot but not a ton either..

Let me throw this at you guys ! the radiator is in the back of the car ! Its laying flat just under the the center of the rear deck. This is why i was trying to find out what would be best way to change the temp with the radiator in that location.

Electric fan, take out the restrictor.

Ryan you read my mind. The electric fan has always been there but taking out the restrictor was the next thing to do.

For kicks try a Robershaw, or Mr Gasket high flow 160 thermostat.
