in building a 406 for the end of this year and next year. i plan on turning it about 7000-7300 max. i was wondering what would be a good rod to use. i plan on running mahle pistons and a callies crank. im looking for a good american made (not eagle or scat) 6" rod that doesnt cost 700$. i see crower has a set of sportsman rods that go for around 469$. i've also seen howards with some nice rods. the main thing i want is an i beam design around 550-600 grams and 7/16 cap screw bolts....all for around 500$ or so!

thanks for any help!

Run the Crower Sportsman Rods and you won't have any problems.

ohio crankshaft has some nice 4340 I-Beam rods in either pressed or bushed starting at 159.00. Not sure if that is what you want or not though.

Dont forget about Lunati's pro mod connecting rod. Of coarse I cant find any specs right now, but worth a look.

Well I was going to say eagle make a good rod but I'm going to hold off on that statement untill I find out what made that big hole in the oil pan.....she went KABOOM in the feature tonight.
