Not sure how many inches, to make a differance. But do know that it does not make to much difference if you put it on a race preped engine verse a tired one. For one it helps stabilize the rings. two if the crank is spinning in vac. less hp to spin.

Crank case vac system will cause lost of hp if not setup properly or properly matched to your engine. Too much crankcase vacuum and or wrong ring package will cause the rings to flutter, causing more blowby and hp loss. I have also seen where an improperly matched vac pump would pull the oil out of the crankcase at high RPM. Because more oil stays up in the head and higher vacuum from the pump. My conclusion they work good in a drag motor with a narrow RPM range of operation which is where I got my experience with them. Most dirt cars I have been around have quite a wide power band thus it would be very hard make a match.
