last night i melted three plugs down and two others were on the way out.i'm running the same carb, jets timing as i always have the only diff is i put in a thermostat 180 degree because the 5/8 spacer i had in there was making the car run to cold i was only getting up around 170 at the most with the stat i got up to 210 where i want to be my question is would that be enough to cause the plugs to melt the electrodes i was running right on the edge with the jets before anyways the plugs were always a little on the lean side. i put new plugs in up jetted from 72 to 74 and i am going to check the timing there were no vacume leaks or anything else i'm running a 331 chevy 12.5 to 1 pop ups 2bbl holley, brezinski intake with stock exhaust manifolds roller rockers hydraulic cam msd module and coil i turn around 7200 rpm on a big 3/8ths. i did not hurt the motor any it was actually still running although not very good, i fig the plugs werer prob arching off the pistons.any help would be great the car runs awsome right now i'm just going threw a bad luck streak.will it ever end.lol

oh and i am also running 461 heads fully ported an ignition solutions spark box and ac r43t plugs. like i said the only change i made was the stat to get the car to run warmer it seems to run best at 210 to 220 and the only time i could get there before was if the grill was heavily clogged lol

R43's are a little hot for 12.5:1, more than a little hot for my tastes. They're about 1 1/2 - 2 heat ranges hotter than the plugs I run in my 10.3:1 355. And I'm thinking about going down another notch.

Change the plugs to something colder before you burn a hole through something.

I like 76 jets with the 4412 on our 355 motors.
