Ive never had problems w/ a stock pump but this season I switched to 1/2 aeroquip fuel line with the log style filter. My motor seems to be running out of fuel at the end of the strait and does not come back till im coming out the turn. Does this seem like a pump problem or can running to lean also cause this b/c I was running lean??

Stock mechanical, no not to many turns in the line. I know its something simple just have not traced it yet. I will try jetting it up first if that dont work I guess i'll try an aftermarket pump.

Running gas, my pressure gauge is not hooked up, I guess that would be a good start. Would to small of jets make it fall on its face then all of a sudden take back off? Im at work for a week right now so I cant really do anything till I get home and I have two days to find the problem. Dont want to spend money on parts I dont really need. Another thing I just thought of, over the winter while working on the car my module went out and I put a stock one in from the auto parts, That could be my problem but it feels more like a fuel issue. thanks for the reply's

If that is all you changed I am thinking that you created the need for more volume with the larger lines and the stocker can't meet the volume, the only other thing I could think of would be float level or fuel slosh? As always I try to think back as to what is different from before. Good luck.

Thats the only thing I changed besides the module being stock now. Another thing the ground on my tack was not tight b/c the tach was acting funny, could this be a problem?

MODULE? Are you talking about the control module in the HEI? You may have a bad one! A bad module can act like a fuel problem. It will fall flat on it's face, you backpedal and you have power again. stock HEI doesn't like high RPMs, if you can run it, try an aftermarket.

Yeah, control module. I had an msd control module but it went out when working on the car over the winter so I ran to the auto parts to get one b/c I needed it quick. This will be the first thing I change when I get home. I'll let you guys know when I figure it out. Thanks for the suggestions.

Checked direction of fuel filter, its ok. Float level is fine did the same thing w/ two diff carbs w/ same size jets. I dont have a fuel log reg. I dont really have a log, its just the long barrel type fuel filter. Im leaning towards jets or module right now but i wont fing out till thurs. Thanks

Well I think I found my problem, I changed three things, dont really know what did it but this is what I found. Ground on tach was loose, tightened it up. Fuel line coming out cell had a kink in it, put a 90 degree fitting to take kink out. Float level was 1/8th below the bottom of the sight screw hole on the bowl. One of these three was the culprit, took it on and old road today and tached it 7,200 with no fuel starvation now hopefully its fine at the track. Im still putting a hp control module in tomorrow to be sure. This was a brand new Keith dorton carb that was suppose to be race ready straight out the box, maybe the float got bent during shipping who knows. Hopefully all goes well at the track. Thanks for the comments.
