Our fuel pump quit pumping on our sbc 358 C.I. Hobby Stocker engine and we changed the pump but still the same problem the fuel pump will not pump fuel to the carb.New fuel pump hand tested it will pump but not mounted on the engine.

Could the lobe on the cam that runs the fuel pump rod wore down so that it will not pump?

Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

Thanks Steven.

Sounds like a bad cam or a plugged supply line.

We checked the fuel line and it has gas streaming out of the line where it hooks to the pump but the pump will not pump fuel from the fuel cell to the carb.We put a new fuel pump on it and it will not pump either.

I was wondering if the cam lobe have worn down that works the fuel pump rod that is all I can figure right now.

Thanks.
Steven.

The line when unkooked from the fuel pump has plenty of free flowing fuel. The pump on the engine with fuel line hose in a jug of fuel still will not pump no fuel.

Thanks Steven.

Make sure your getting the rod on the plunger, it could trick you some times.

If the rod is bent it will stick down & not follow the cam.

Found the problem the fuel pump rod was not all the way in when the pump was installed and it broke the fuel pump arm.

Thanks for you help.
Steven.
