Just got my motor in from jr motorsports and there is a hairline crack going from one of the steamholes to the headbolt hole. The steamholes are plugged. Should I worry about this?

Im hoping not, I would like to think if it were a problem they would not have used this block. Thanks I feel a little better now.

Just about every 400 block that's been used/beaten cracks there. When I worked at the shop we advised people to use head studs since it pulled more evenly on the block in that area. Head bolts may not torque correctly since the block will give a we little itty bit around the cracks.

But it's no big deal. Just as I mention above, I'd run studs.

I think I would call and let them know regardless. A guy that races at my track bought one of JR Motorsports blocks at one of their auctions, ended up it was cracked also, I'm not sure of the location, but he's having to find a different block.

Thanks guys, im going to use head studs and not worry about it. Should I remove the dial pins since the studs should line the heads up?

Thanks, all my steamholes were plugged before the machine work was done. Looks like this is common, I feel much better now.
