I'm running a 2-piece rear main seal 350. It has been line-honed and has a new scat S/R cast crank. The motor is fresh this season and only has 3 nights on it. This motor has leaked from the rear main seal since I got it from the machine shop. I replaced the rear main seal (blue neoprene type), and this did not fix the leak. Can someone tell me why this block might be leaking and is it something I can fix?

Thanks

Had one like that once. Figured out that the cap had a little tinge of a mark on it from clamping the cap in the mill to line hone.

That didn't sound right. Clamping the cap to surface to prepare to line hone. Sound better? Are you lining up the ends with the separation of the cap? If so, try staggering so that the ends don't line up there.

a few thoughts.

is the seal pointed the correct way, with the lip pointed towards the inside of the block.

put a small dap of goo on each end of the seal lips where they both meet.

put a dab of goo along the rear main cap and block towards the outside part of the block.

are you sure it's leaking from seal and not the oil pan lip that goes over the rear main cap.

I had a problem like this... it turned out to be stopped up breathers... the engine could not breathe so it started pushing oil out anywhere it could...
