Ok I have seen a bunch of post on this topic but all I hear is weld it. Well I guess I'm not as inclined as most I guess! Does someone have more info on the welding up part where and how on the distributor? Or does any one have a pic of it that would even be great. I know how to weld, install the distributor and all that stuff but never welded a HEI or seen one welded so any help would be great.
Thanks

It's really very simple. Remove the rotor cap to expose the centrifugal advance weights. Remove the 2 springs, both wieghts and the little plastic bushings that sit over the pins. If you hold ths gear end stationary and twist the end you removed the weights from you will see the plates pivot away from each other. Place a small tack or two in an aera that will lock these together and not interfere with the rotor cap. Just to be safe, I would remove the module assembly before welding.

Thanks for the info MiPinto6 I will have to try this for sure. On the plates that move apart, do I weld them while there apart or do close them all the way then weld them? Second after I weld them can I put back the mod and cap & rotor and go? Or is here something else I got to do? Thanks again!

I always close them and weld but I really doubt it would make a difference. You're going to readjust your timing after you're done. Just weld it up, put it all back together and set timing. That's it!

Mine are welded together when they are close to each other. I had a problem being able to put the rotor back on after mine was done, I think we welded them to close together. But I was able to make it work, just thought I'd add that in there.
