Ok, this might seem to be a stupid question but I need some verification just so I'll feel better about it.
I have a new ring set, 1/16 1/16 3/16.
Both of the 1/16 rings have markings on them.
8 of the rings are marked with the word "TOP" and the other 8 rings just have a dot stamped into it.
Now I know when they do this it means that these rings need to be facing toward the top of the piston but my question is, the rings marked with the word "TOP" are the compression rings, right? And the ones with the dot goes into the 2nd ring groove, correct?
These are speedpro graphite piston rings.
The "TOP" rings have the inside diameter bevel on the bottom.
The dotted rings have the inside diameter bevel on the top.
The little instruction paper that came with the set does not say which is the first ring and which is the second.
It only states that all rings that are marked, face toward the top of the piston.
So, common sense tells me that the ones marked "TOP" is the 1st ring.
Just need some verification.
