I have a 350 w/305 heads and this engine has always been a booger to get started. No matter where we set the timing its the same thing. We put this motor in a new car and we cannot get it started. Any ideas? Also if it is hot like jurring the race, absolute forget about getting it started until it has cooled down.

Check/change the coil also. if one is going south, as it warms up it will get worse. but I do agree, it is likely electrical.

is it turning over good enough just won't fire oe could your problem be in the starter not turning hard enough?

Yes it turns over good enough and tries to fire but just won't start. I was talking to a guy last night and as I was explaining it to him I told him I had all total stock ignition. He suggested putting a race module and hot coil in. What do you all think of that?

Sounds like you are getting a weak spark. Check all your wiring. Try adding another ground somewhere. Check your cap location in the distributor with #1 cylinder at TDC on compression stroke.

coil and mod upgrade will help also check the carb haveyou pulled the plugs and seen if you are lean or rich might have a carb problem and it's loading the plugs up and fuel fouling them

Is your carb getting fuel? Check the fuel pump.

i pulled a dummy once left switch one and drained battery cranked fine but would not fire charged battery -ok could be you are using so many amps cranking there isn't enough juice left to fire the plugs especially with higher compression, hope this helps.
