Author Topic:   hole in freeze plug\got pretty hot

motor got real hot quick last week at track noticed it was blowing steam out of left side of block,freeze plug,started it today sounds fine,went to set valves noticed a little water type condensation in cover,also a little in oil on dipstick.. Need advice on what to look for or what i should do.

Thanks xx RACER,Ya did a comp test today no comp on 3 and 5 so i will be pulling them off.Any other advice will be appreciated

Check the block and head for warpage and possible fire ring brinelling (scoring). If a gasket blows under extreme heat it can score the block and/or head.

Oh.. and pull both heads. If one blew, the other could have possibly been damaged or at the very least weakened slightly. It's a heck of alot easier (and cheaper in the long run) to pull the second head now than it is to DNF 3 weeks later and have to do it again.
