Author Topic:   block wear behind cam gear.......HELP ...?

I have a flat washer type bearing behind my cam gear and some junk must have got between the bearing and the block ,this has made some pretty nasty looking grooves on the block ....can I use a needle bearing between the cam rear and the block ? and if I can will someone tell me whear to get one and what part # to ask for .....350 chev......hope I can solve this problem without machine work

I had this happen & had the shop machine the block & cut a brass spacer to fit it.

You could try a torrington bearing with a cam button.

I have cam button ,....the torrington bearing is what I was asking about ....who has them ? ....part #would be helpfull....Thanks for the replys .

If you use that setup the gear is machined so the bearing fits it with a good block. If the block is wore this will not fix your problem. To do it right you need to take it to the shop.
