I have always ran stock oil pumps on all my modified engines with 40 and 50 weight oil. I just bought a complete engine with a high volume pump in it. Do I still run the 40 or 50 weight oil or something lighter? Thanks for any help.

that would do fine. personally i like to use a multi viscosity type oil like 25W/50, 20W/50, 15W/50 etc. but that is just me.

I run a high volume Pump in my street stock with out any problems.. I always get the one for a corvette...The one in my motor now is about 4 or 5 years old and still going strong...I always break my motors in on 10/30 Quaker State and the switch to Kendel 50...

I would stick with the HV pump and run a good multi visc. oil. Volume is good its the excess pressure that robs HP.

Thanks for all the responses. I have always got along good with the stock pump and 50 weight Valvoline. Just wasnt sure on the HV pump.
