I would like to hear some comments on this. My Ford has the points system still in it and I'm debating whether I should convert it to HEI. The rules don't allow for MSD or supercoils. I'm not too knowledgable with ignition systems. I've done searches and have found support for both kinds, but mostly for HEI's. Is there a benefit to converting it other than not having to mess with adjustments? I'm only turning around 5500 rpm.

HEI's run a hotter spark than a points dist can handle, the points will burn out quickly at the same output. HEI caps being larger have less of a chance to crossfire.

I ran a stock ford TFI dist last year, works perfect. Simple to hook up too. 3 wires, one to ground, one to coil neg, and one to ign switch.

A couple of advantages should be you can run a wider plug gap with the hotter spark, you will probally need to re jet your carb with the new HEI not to mention no more points to mess with and plug life should last alot longer.....try it you will like it....Towman
