If a fella had a couple of camshafts in his garage that he had forgoten the specifics of, would there be a way to figure it out??? I would just call the maker of them but they have no markings. Any help would be apprecaiated. I know I should ahve tagged them, but I didnt.

to get the lift you can subtract the width of the exhaust and or intake lobe from the length and multiply it by the rocker arm ratio

Use a caliper as noted above for lift and use a degree wheel for deg. do both intake and exhaust. If you use 2 dial indicators you can get overlap also.

We had one in an engine that came with the car. We wanted to know the specs so we took it to a machine shop that had a piece of equipment capable of profiling the cam. In a couple of minutes we knew every thing we wanted to know.
