I was looking at pushrods and I see you can buy them oversize from stock. Can anyone tell me why you would use pushrods that are oversized in length.

To correct valvetrain geometry.

If you've had alot of head work done (multiple valve jobs, hard seats, new valves possibly longer than stock) there's reason to check for proper alignment. There are .100" longer valves for taller valve springs to handle lift over .600".

also, alot of racing cams are actually 'reground' stock cores and they remove from the heel and then it makes a smaller base circle cam and this also requires pushrod length corrections.
