does it do it all the time or just at idle

all the time but more so after it gets warmed up. its mostly when trying to accellerate up a hill, its not too bad when cruise is set on a flat road, but it still sputters a little.

most check engine lights are just for the smog stuff, or evaporation canister..

I would think ignition stuff, voltage, battery, alternator, bad wires etc.

Up a hill is under a load. So my first choice would be to check the resistance on your wires. If your alt, battery etc are checking good. A weak spark will get it done on flat ground etc.

it sounds like poor spark.

It could also be a plugged up catalytic converter if you have one.

My wife drives a foreign car and bad wires or even one out of 4 can seem like a really big problem. Her wires were top of the line Bosch also and still went bad in less than a year.

Like dirtrace said I would check the resistance on the plug wires. Also check the resistance on your coil towers. If the Batt has been replaced or has went dead anytime Lumina's require the idle to be relearned. I would also run some injector cleaner threw it. I work at a GM garage and we have had ALOT of cars coming in with dirty injectors latly.

put a set of plug wires on and it will fix your problem.

we see that all day long at the dealership.

Check out the Mass Air Flow sensor.

they will do that sometimes. seems like they need to get some engine heat into them before they really start to miss.

Don't put the Bargin Red wires on it or it will be even worse. They leak a lot of "noise" that the o2 or the tps can pick up,then the problem gets worse. Spend a little for the better set & you'll be fixed up.

Get some good plug wires and make sure your coils are all good.you can try spraying water from a bottle on the wires.and don't get wires from the zone they are junk right out of the box.
