ive noticed alot of 383 kits offer a balancing plate. could someone explain what it is for and do you have to have one? thanks

the balance plate goes between the flexplate/flywheel and crank. it lets you use a flexplate or flywheel off a 350 on a 383 or 400 axternal balance engine.

A ballancer plate is a cheap way around internally ballancing a rotating assembly. If you get a chance to buy a internal ballancer kit, go for it. It is the correct way to go.
