I have a 383 SBC running;
750 Holley
12.5 to 1 comp.
Dart Alum Heads.
This is my 1st alky motor>
I need a suggested timing % at full advance.
If someone could give me a base line to start at. I have been told that an alky motor will run more advance than gas.

God Bless

35 to 36 degree's max. Alky engines will not run more timing than gas. The combustion chamber design determines total advance. The only way that you can get away with more timing is if you are running extremely rich.

agreed. total timing is dictated by the efficiency of the heads, not the fuel. better designed heads need less advance.

Hey sdhnc29: Are you the guy that used to kick **** at Antioch? We wondered what happened to you. If so, hope all is well and continue to do the same.

orange2mod ,

Yeah , I miss that place !! I've got a lot of great memories from Antioch, and it's still one of my favorite bull-ring's.

I moved back to North Carolina and re-opened our engine business in the heartland of racing. I still visit CA once in a while, just can't stay away..lol You can check out my homepage that I use for my online auctions if you want. I've got some racing pictures from back here if your interested. http://home.bellsouth.net/p/PWP-stevehendren

Take care,
Steve
