If it has never been fired you shouldnt have any problems. If who ever put it together got everything lubed good it should be fine. If you wanted you might spray some fine misting oil or fogging oil in the cylinders. Then definetly prime the oil pump and go.
If it has been sitting for 6 years i would be most concerned with whether or not entire vavletrain was in place and adjusted ready to run. If so then some of those vavlesprings have been under pressure either paritally or fully opened and may be weaker than they should be. If this is the case you might want to have the springs checked just in case.

If it were mine, I would do what I could to get some cam lube on the camshaft while I had the pan off. Then, I'd pull the dist, prime it up , replace the dist, whirl it good without any plugs in it, replace the dist and plugs and FIRE THAT MUTHA UP!
But then-sometimes I ain't the brightest bulb in the shop!

Use a good oil and dump in some GM EOS to help with the cam break in.... i would agree though if you can get to the cam more lube aint gonna hurt... but should be alright if put together right.

a few years ago i bought an engine that was rebuilt and sat for 17 years without ever being fired. i put a little oil in the cylinders, primed it up with a drill on the oil pump shaft and fired it up.

i ran that engine the whole season and then sold it to a guy at the end of the season and he ran it almost 2 more seasons before he finally just wore it out.

the rocker arms weren't on the engine though or i would've replaced the valve springs......of course you guys know it had to be a ford engine or it would've blown up long before!

I'd definitely prime it and pour some oil in cylinders. I might not hurt to throw some of this stuff in for the first 15 min. break in. http://www.shopcranecams.com/suplubbreakc.html
