helps you get out of 4 and to the flag stand quicker then they guy thats doesn't have light stuff and thats the most important part of the race.

Never heard that. I have read that removing one pound of unsprung weight is like taking 10 pounds off, though.

I have heard reducing 1 pound of rotating weight is equal to about 10 lbs of static weight. This improves acceleration and deceleration.
Unsprung weight can not be used as a chassis tuning device. Reducing unsprung weight give more adjustability to the chassis.
