has anyone here run them? we can do all the port work we want and i was thinking about porting some out and seeing what happens. i got 8 sets for free. 7 sets of 350s and 1 set of 305s. are they worth my time for a claimer motor? thanks for any info.

They are supposed to have a bump in the intake runners to help the swirl in the chamber, this also kills any flow.If you could remove this with porting maybe they can be made to work.

yea i was planning on either not running the center bolts or just opening up the holes a little.

i was also gonna try and get rid of as much of that swirl deal in the heads as i can. if i had a no porting rule i dont think i would mess with these heads.

I know some guys who tried these heads on a street stock after hogging them out and putting bigger valves in them. Compared to a double hump they said they pulled about as well to 6000 or so but after that the double hump was better. And they wouldnt even be close to a dart or world products head. If you dont want to get the correct intake i would round out the hole on your intake and then either make wedge washers to cover the hole or put a bunch of silicone in there. Also if you are running roller rockers and the center bolt valve covers you will have to have narrow body rockers to clear the center bolts. Also they are lightweight casting so they are prone to crack as well.
I guess if you have them for free and want to play with them go for it but they are not going to compete with a stock Vortec head or dart or sportsman heads out of the box.

well the whole story is i have been running iron eagles at both our outlaw track and the imca track. well this year i've got a car for each track and i plan on running cheap stuff at the imca track because claiming is VERY common there. at the imca track we run the 350 holley carb so im not worried about how they pull about 6500rpm. i will also be using roller tip rockers..not full rollers.

thanks for the info!!
