If alignment in fore and aft, twist and parallel are all good then the belt won't come off unless there is bracket flex under load that makes for mis-alignment. My other suggestion is go to a higher voltage system and forget the front weight and power drain of an alternator. SLEEPY

i was having probs throwing belts on one car and not the other the alignment was better on the car with belt probs. the prob. we had was the bottom pulley was too big and turning alt and power steer too fast. put 6" pulley on like other car and ok. just an idea!!

I ran an alternator for 6 years the only times I had problems with belts was when I tried running a steel fan or a cogged belt. With an old straight belt and an aluminum fan it always stayed on and that was with stock pulleys and brackets. I set the tension on the belt by having it loose enough I could turn the radiator fan by hand and tight enough I couldn't turn the alternator fan by hand.

I like running my alt. off the rear end that way if my belt comes off I don't lose my fan belt. Plus it takes weight off the nose.
