I have a brand new motor and been tryin to prim it the past couple of days. solid lifter cam I have gotten to the point of having all but one rocker get oil to it. can anybody tell me if this is normal with a soild cam? first time messing with soild switch from hyd. I really want to fire this motor off and all but don't want to take a chance at messing something up. plz help me.

Do you have new push rods in it?? Or are you shure the push rod on the rocker that isn't oiling is clean inside?? Just something to check.

have new push rods and rockers. made sure nothing is cloging the push rods and rockers. i don't want to take a chance at whiping out a cam.

try swapping your push rod and rocker with one of the others that is oiling. I had a rocker once that had the hole drilled a little off and wouldn't oil.

oil out the pushrod isnt oil on the cam anyways.

the cam is oiled by oil slung off the rods.

i have a purpose built priming tool tat goes into thh distrib. hole. But maybe Steve can answer this question for me here the only rocker that isn't gettin oil is the #8 intake and i was wondering if i could go ahead and start the motor up like it is.

nut3d, have you turned the motor over (by hand) while running the primer? That's the only way I can get all 16 rockers to pre-oil.

yes i have. I read in my JR motor sports catalog tat u prime for 2 mintues and then fire her up. i've been priming for 2 days. I don't want to take a chance on runing my Midewest motor.

Very rarely have any of my engines ever primed all the rockers when priming,some have some haven't maybe due to air in the oil galleys.I would not worry a bit.

well it's my car owner who is from the old school and raced motorcycles for 20 years and i'm the driver/mechanic on the car and still in a automotive repair class at school.
