Why am I pulling the webs out of a 383 ci chevy with six inch rods 12:1 compression JE pistons, and scat crank?
Thanks,

Is this a GM four-bolt main cap block or a two-bolt block made into a four-bolt block? The GM four-bolt blocks are too weak. For better lower end strength, take a two-bolt block and convert it to a four-bolt with quality splayed caps.

Yes, the assembly was balanced. Yes it is a four bolt GM block, could the harmonic balancer be bad? It is a fluid balancer.
Thanks for your response,

You definatley want the splayed caps on a 2 bolt block if you are going over 450-500 hp. Its just added insurance. Trash the fluid dampner asap. Those things are more trouble than they are worth. A stock GM harmonic balancer will do the trick. Just make sure and get a brand new one.
