solid lifters are designed for use on flat tappet solid cams. anti pump lifters are designed for use on big flat tappet hydraulic cams. any mis-matching of these components will most likely result in poor performance and premature failure and it's not recommended. save yourself a headache and seek the advice of a camshaft professional before you attempt to mis-match these components.

I saw that post too,wes is right they are two different animals,Hyd cams have a small ramp to pump up the lifter to get it ready to open this is why you can't make solids work on a hyd so if you do the opposite you won't have any lifter pump up to get it ready for the lift/valve spring.I've heard of guys using solids on a hyd but everyone i've seen that tried failed.

I personally prefer to run hyd.lifters with my hyd cam for the same reasons rico and outlaw stated but I do know of people who mix match both ways and they have no problems. The performance gain is not enough to make me try it.A hyd lifter is no different than a solid when its pumped up.Another thing you can do is take a hyd lifter apart and fill it with washers to act like a solid lifter. To me its not worth the trouble but it can and is being done.
