Which head casting number is the best and why for a hobby stock motor?

i can tell you which one is the worst 624 are very weak casting, lighter then 882's they crack very easily

Best to worst-487,441,993,624.

882,993,991, are al about the same
441,487, are a little better
441x,487x are a little better yet

dont waste your time and money buying premium heads the 882,993,991 are easier to find usually cheaper and have won features, atleast for us. usually the carbs and exhaust you run cant use all these heads can handle anyway, depends on your rules.

My word of advice put your money in a cam and find one that works.

Cams are like people everybody likes things there own way. we found one we love and had a friend use it and he didn't like it. Good Luck

In John Lingenfelters book he says 487x is the best. He says they are better than double hump heads.

He's the only one I've ever heard say that! May work better on his dished piston, twin turbocharged small blocks than tight chambered double humps. Does he build circle track motors, too?
