Saterday night a friend was flying in the main , just walking by everyone , and pop pop pop ! we thought about it for awhile and thought dist. so we pulled the cap and found the rotor had come apart? what would do this ? any help would be good.

Thay were metal , the flat conducter was ripped right off , as soon as we changed it it fired right up.

Sorry I cant tell you for sure what caused your problem but for what its worth Ive seen it happen several times...RPM vibration and some people even think racing is hard on parts???? If you find out for sure let me know....Towman

What kind of gap does he have on the dist gear ,it should be around 15 thou .

Too much play in the dist shaft will cause this,both vertically and especially horizontally.
