I am trying to help a poor boy racer who's running a hobby stock. The rules require 13 in. vacuum @ 900 rpm. This kid can't afford an aftermarket cam so he's running a stock one - I have no idea on any of the specs. I degree in my cams to the spec card and have never played around with advancing or retarding a cam. I am planing to **t 1.6 rockers on his motor, and was wondering how advancing a stock cam would effect performance and idle vacuum. Any suggestions on what I should shoot for as far as intake lobe center?

A "stock" cam should pull gobs of vacuum.

13" is easy to get,try an old 350hp/327 cam, these can be had cheap as the stock one and advancing it won't kill the top end.
