ok guys help me out here if you where to set the valves to tight would you be more likley to blow a lifter or flatten the cam i think i may have set them to tight in my truck and she got hot and died on me tonite as i pulled into the track i still have good oil pressure and no water in the oil so i'm ruling out blown head gasket for the time being will run compression check just in case tho. it will start but sounds like it's only hitting on 5 cylenders thinking thats the reason behind the getting hot i was able to start it back up after i refilled the radiator and drive it to a freinds shop but it was a nuteral coast at the stop sings and dumper her back in gear when i needed to go as it stumbled on it's face and died a few more times

It may take a while to flatten the cam,it can also blow a lifter and probably quick. The real damage is you run a risk of burning a valve .

took the valve cover off the left bank last nite and all the valves are up so i'm pretty sure it's the cam so i may be sitting out for a few weeks with this new job i started today i'm not gonna have much free time to get it fixed plus change the oil pan gaskets on my car too

not good took other side off and had a bent valve on #6 took intake off all lifters are blown took head off that side and #8 piston was all chewed up looked like something go in there some how didn't find anything but top of piston was all pitted and electrode on plug was all smashed hoping i can sneak a new piston in her by just pulling the pan beings it's sitting out in the street yet and new lifters and heads should fix her right up then i can unload the car and change tranny in that lol if it wasn't for bad luck i wouldn't have any at all
