Check out Comp Cams new composite gear. It is nylon filled with carbon fiber I think. They told me it would hold up under the load of a magneto. Not sure about the price but it sure looked good. It is light too. Good for reducing front weight???

I had the same problem and couldn't figure it out for a while. I was even wearing out the Bronze gear. Come to find out the cam was walking back and forth on me. I put a cam button in by the timing chain cover and haven't had a problem since. Good luck.

I can also add that if you wore out one gear on a cam and didnt replace the cam and just put a new gear on it......it will keep wearing the dist gear out from the wear on the cam. I ended up going with a button last year to keep cam walk down!! this was with a flat tappet
