Using a stock 4 barrel cast iron intake, how do you mount a 4412 to it? I have seen those adapters that just mount it over the center, but there is metal under there. Do you just mount it over the large two holes? I am trying to figure this out so I can try one of these out. Thanks.

There is a phenolic 1" slider type adapter that works very well there. It allows you to position the 4412 over the rear holes, or to position it centered over the intake if you mill out the 4 holes to connect them, leaving only the center divider. That intake works much better that way with a 2bbl, btw.

Let me know if you need to find one of those adapters. we have them as do many suppliers.

Kinetic Perf also makes a nice adapater, take a look at it on his website. It has 2 tapered sleeves in it. The theory being that the taper extends the venturi and puts more "pull" thru the carb. I've got 2 adapters from him, and I'm impressed.

I picked up an adapter from Summit for mine, it's a Mr Gasket brand (cheap) specifically for the Q-jet intake. It moves the carb back over the secondary holes. They also have a slider type like the one mentioned above, but it's about 60 bucks. I'm sure there are better ones out there than the one I got, but it's cheap (less than 20 bucks) and it seems to work fine for me.

If I use the adapter that mounts the carb over the center of the intake without milling out between the primary and secondary holes, will this cause a problem for me? I know it isn't optimum, but will it run alright? It isn't a great transition, but that's all I could get local right now. Thanks.

It may run, but it sure won't flow right, and will be down on power and torque. It may also mess up the final jetting you'll need.
I never recommend that situation when using a quad with a 2bbl.
John, I think I have one of the slider adapters in the shop that will set you right up, if you like. I can ship it tomorrow, too (I'm not at the shop all day today).

Hope that helps,

I may get one of those from you KP...the only problem is that doesn't get me on the track this week. I am going to check one other local place. The adapter I have is the one that is like an inch tall and is the universal. It says you can bolt a 4 barrel carb on a 2 barrel intake with it. I know it won't be cptimum, but I just want to make it to the track. I think out quadrajet is what is causing all of our problems. We only turn a 355 to about 5500 rpms with stock heads, intake, and exhaust, so do you really think this will limit us that much?

Thanks for your help.
