does anyone know about "492" heads? what aplication did they come on? combustion chamber size? how do they compare to double humps? vortecs? bowties? any help would be apreciated. neil

They are an "over the counter head" . Out of the box , they flow more than any of the double hump head's , as well as the 041 , 041X , 461 , 461X , 462 , and less than the Vortec and Bowtie . If your not allowed to run the Vortec , Bowtie or aftermarket head's , then they are the best that you can use . But .......you must be VERY selective in choosing a good set of 492 head's !!! Since they are "Hencho in Mexico" , it is difficult to find a good set with no core shift or casting flaw's .

492's are double humps.They came on several hipo engines in yhe late 70's-early 80's.They are available as a service replacement for early double humps.Current versions have 64cc. chambers,2.02intakes & 1.6Exhausts and are set up for ***** -in studs.
