Ok...brain fart here...finishing up the new motor. I put the cam in and installed the timing chain and gear, but now I am worried I forgot something? Is there anything else that goes in there? I remember seeing two small holes in the front of the block that were tapped and are now behind the timing gear. I didn't miss anything did I? Please ease my mind. Too much work not enough sleep...

no...there are two of them, smaller than the oil galleys, one on each side of the cam. Some sort of retainer or something? Heck I don't know.

Is this the late model GM block? Say 88 or newer?

If it is then those holes are there for a cam retainer plate to limit forward movement of the cam when they came with roller cam setups. Nothing to worry about if you have a standard flat tappet cam in it.
