i was cleaning the shop the other nite and found an old sunnen cylinder grinder.what i was wondering is first for all do they still make stones for these anywhere and also how far can you take a cylinder out with these safley i have heard you can realy mess a block up by honing on it to much but wasn't sure i have a couple junk blocks i was gonna mess with just wanted to see if it's worth the time to try it out or not. i'm a self professed cheap a$$ and try to do everything i can myself to save a buck or two

I beleive i know what you are referring to we used to have one in engine shop in school 20+ years ago,it resembles the modern power hone of today,in it's day the idea was to bore and hone in one operation, but it really doesn't provide a very precision job,but if you are looking for cheapness it may work.Took a really good drill to turn tho!
